Tour for the Presidential Inaugural, 2013
Sunday, January 20, 2013
Eavesdrop on history with the new Tour for the Presidential Inaugural at Tudor Place, debuting January 2013.
A mansion on a hill overlooking the centers of power, Tudor Place grew up with its young nation. Its heirloom-filled rooms ring with echoes of politicians, soldiers, and dignitaries sharing gossip, politics, and the lives of a family that presided here through six generations. The Custis-Peter family’s home and legacy offer an intimate window onto the sweep of American history. From America’s earliest days to the 20th century, Tudor Place and its collections tell stories of America’s conflicts and Presidents who led us through them.
The bequest from George Washington that helped establish the estate was just the first of several presidential paths to cross here. Reserve now for the 45-minute Tour for the Presidential Inaugural at Tudor Place for an intimate visit with objects, documents, artwork and stories tied to the American presidency and a uniquely American household.
